Burglary at BI<\/p>\n
Some cash in dollars and rupiah as well as several papers were
\nreported missing in a mysterious robbery on Tuesday at the
\nprotocol division of the tightly-guarded central bank, Bank
\nIndonesia, on Jl. M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
According to police reports, the robbers forcibly opened
\nlockers of 12 desks in the room.<\/p>\n
An employee named Arjo discovered what had happened at about
\n6:30 a.m. The office opens at 7 a.m. He reported it to the
\nsecurity division, which later contacted the Gambir Police
\nsubprecinct.<\/p>\n
The protocol division is located in the Thamrin building,
\nwhere the central bank's board of directors work. It manages
\nprotocol affairs, including arranging work-related travel for the
\nboard of directors.<\/p>\n
However, there was no explanation offered about the lost
\npapers nor the motive of the robbery. Gambir Police could not
\nconfirm the amount of cash stolen because the employees had not
\nreported it.<\/p>\n
Central bank spokesman Erwin Riyanto dismissed the possibility
\nof the loss of important documents.<\/p>\n
\"All documents here must be submitted for storage in the safe
\nafter office hours. There was no documents missing in the
\nincident. Only some cash belonging to the employees. It's only a
\nminor robbery, it could happen in any office,\" he told reporters.<\/p>\n
However, he said that the central bank would tighten its
\nsecurity in the near future.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 16, burglars broke into the secretariat of the House
\nof Representatives Special Committee and rifled through
\ndocuments.<\/p>\n
No documents or valuables were reported missing. However,
