Bungalows in Puncak<\/p>\n

Bogor has seen very rapid development due to its beautiful
\nscenic surroundings endowed with clean air which is exempt from
\nthe pollution of dust and noise. Accordingly, many officials and
\nbusinesspeople have built villas and bungalows in the area.<\/p>\n
The villas and bungalows are entrusted to the care of local
\nfamilies. The presence of these bungalows in the area has brought
\nbenefits to the local community because it absorbs a certain
\namount of the work force and it also brings money through
\nbuilding and land taxes into the coffers of the Bogor regional
\nadministration.<\/p>\n
Now, at the end of the sixth five-year development plan, we
\nhave witnessed the forceful demolition of a great number of these
\nbungalows as if they were illegal shacks in city slums. These
\nbuildings are owned by businesspeople and retired officials. The
\nofficials have dedicated their life to the country. The
\nbusinesspeople also have merit by employing workers and by paying
\ntaxes.<\/p>\n
I would propose to the members of the House of
\nRepresentatives\/People's Consultative Assembly (DPR\/MPR) to
\nreview the ministerial instructions to demolish these buildings
\ndue to the absence of building permits. If it is only a matter of
\na building permit, it can be discussed.<\/p>\n
Jakarta -- with its high-rise buildings and flyovers, in which
\ndevelopment has neglected the waterways downstream from Bogor --
\nis prone to floods. However, it seems that the construction of
\nvillas and bungalows in Bogor's Puncak area has been established
\nas the culprit.<\/p>\n
We, the Indonesian Association for Physically Handicapped
\nPersons (HPCTI), in Bogor, hope that the villas and bungalows in
\nthe Puncak area are beneficial for all, especially the local
\nenvironment. If the forceful demolition goes on until the last
\nbuilding, losses will befall the villa and bungalow owners, the
\nregional administration and the local community.<\/p>\n
