        "content": "<p>The construction progress of the 4,439-square-metre underground\nmultifunctional space (extended concourse) at Bundaran HI reached 24\npercent in August 2026 and is targeted for completion in June 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The Extended Concourse project, undertaken by PT MRT Jakarta\n(Perseroda) through its subsidiary PT Integrasi Transit Jakarta (ITJ),\nis expected to be completed in time for Jakarta\u2019s 500th anniversary.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe target is for this to be a gift for Jakarta\u2019s five centuries and\nit will be inaugurated during the Jakarta anniversary celebrations,\u201d\nsaid ITJ President Director Ferdiansyah Roestam in Jakarta on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Ferdiansyah explained that the challenge in building the Extended\nConcourse as the first underground space project carried out in\nIndonesia is that there is no existing example to replicate.<\/p>\n<p>The Rp148.2 billion project is the first underground space\ndevelopment. If successful, it will certainly be followed by the\nconstruction of other extended concourses in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have to read the building development maps in the Bundaran HI\narea and also read the underground cable maps and a number of other\nthings,\u201d said Ferdiansyah.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, this multifunctional space will have two access\npoints connected to existing buildings in the Bundaran HI area.<\/p>\n<p>The first access point is planned to be directly connected to Plaza\nIndonesia and Grand Hyatt. Meanwhile, the second access point will be\ndirectly connected to Wisma Nusantara and Hotel Pullman.<\/p>\n<p>This multifunctional space will also be connected to the Transjakarta\nbus stop at Bundaran HI via a lift.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo later Transjakarta users can access the extended concourse\ndirectly and be connected to the MRT Jakarta station,\u201d said\nFerdiansyah.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that this multifunctional space is located at a depth of\n18 metres below the roads of the Bundaran HI area, which is predicted to\nbecome a public gathering space for Jakarta residents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis Extended Concourse is also a solution for pedestrians crossing\nfrom the east side to the west and vice versa. The public can also enjoy\nthis area as a transit space that certainly drives the economy,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>The company predicts an increase in visitors of up to 6,000 people\nonce the underground multifunctional space is completed.<\/p>\n<p>The project is expected to become a new area that enlivens the\ntransit-oriented development (TOD) of Bundaran HI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope to improve the comfort of public transport users while\nstrengthening connectivity in Jakarta\u2019s central business district,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>",
