Bun Yamin nominated for autonomy board<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): City Council on Friday elected Bun Yamin Ramto
\nas the city's candidate for the membership at the Regional
\nAutonomy Advisory Board, whose members will be elected in the
\nupcoming National Consultative Forum next week.<\/p>\n
Bun Yamin, a former deputy governor on economics and
\ndevelopment from 1984 to 1988, is currently an expert staffer at
\nthe Institute for Strategic Studies of Indonesia (LPSI) and a
\nlecturer at the National Resilience Institute. He is also a
\nprofessor for government affairs at Padjadjaran University's
\nSchool of Social and Political Sciences in Bandung.<\/p>\n
Bun Yamin will compete with 25 other provincial candidates to
\nwin two chairs on the advisory board.<\/p>\n
The Regional Autonomy Advisory Board will be presided over by
\nthe Minister of Home Affairs, while Finance Minister and State
\nMinister for Regional Autonomy will act as deputies to the
\nchairman. Defense Minister, State Minister for State
\nAdministrative Reform and State Secretary will become board
\nmembers, along with members of the Association of Regional
\nGovernments and regional representatives. All members will serve
\non the advisory board for a two-year period.<\/p>\n
The regional representatives will include two provincial
\nmembers, two representatives from regencies and two
\nrepresentatives from mayoralties.<\/p>\n
Advisory board members will report directly to the President
\nand give considerations to the President on regional issues and
\nassessing the readiness of the provinces to implement their
\nauthorized duties for the upcoming regional autonomy. (06)<\/p>",
