        "content": "<p>Bulog rejects rice swap deal<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA (JP): The State Logistics Agency (Bulog) will resist<br>\nthe government's proposal to exchange Indonesia's CN 235<br>\nairplanes with rice from Thailand, chief Widjanarko Puspoyo said<br>\non Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>\"Currently, our rice supply is good, so it would be better if<br>\nthe planned deal were postponed to a later time. And if the<br>\ngovernment insists on continuing with the swap, the airplanes<br>\nshould be exchanged with other commodities, like sugar,\" he told<br>\na media conference as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>As earlier reported, state-owned aircraft manufacturer PT<br>\nDirgantara Indonesia had planned to set up the deal, via the<br>\nMinistry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, with the Thai<br>\ngovernment.<\/p>\n<p>Two CN 235 airplanes would be exchanged for Thailand's<br>\nagricultural products -- rice, sugar and tapioca.<\/p>\n<p>Widjanarko said the rejection against the proposed deal was<br>\npart of efforts to protect farmers who have already been hit by<br>\nthe abundance of imported rice.(imn)<\/p>",
