Perum Bulog is optimising two government instruments\u2014the distribution\nof Stabilisation of Food Supply and Prices (SPHP) rice and rice food\naid\u2014to maintain supply availability, strengthen affordability, and\nensure the stability of rice prices for the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe continue to optimise the two main government instruments in\ncontrolling rice prices, namely the distribution of SPHP rice and rice\nfood aid, to strengthen supply while simultaneously ensuring rice\nremains affordable for the community,\u201d stated the President Director of\nPerum Bulog, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
He noted that with strong stock levels and a national warehousing\nnetwork, both programmes are being deployed massively from Sabang to\nMerauke as part of the government\u2019s steps to maintain food stability\nacross Indonesia. He added that SPHP rice and food aid operate through\ntwo complementary channels.<\/p>\n
He explained that the SPHP programme strengthens the rice supply at\nthe consumer level through various distribution channels, while direct\nfood aid reaches eligible recipients to help meet household food needs.\nUnder this pattern, the Government Rice Reserve (CBP) is not merely\nstored in warehouses but is continuously mobilised so that its benefits\ncan be felt by the public, while supporting efforts to maintain the\nbalance of rice supply and prices.<\/p>\n
Calculating all targets and allocations for 2026\u2014including 828,000\ntonnes of SPHP rice, an additional 1 million tonnes of SPHP, and food\naid for the February-March, July-September, and October-December\nperiods\u2014the scale of government assignments through the CBP in 2026 will\napproach 4.5 million tonnes. This large volume demonstrates the capacity\nof the CBP being deployed to strengthen market supply and support food\naccess for tens of millions of beneficiary families across\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
The scale of assignments in 2026 is set to increase significantly.\nThe initial target for SPHP distribution is set at 828,000 tonnes, while\nfood aid for the February-March period has a ceiling of 664,888 tonnes,\nand the July-September period reaches 997,332 tonnes.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe addition of 1 million tonnes of SPHP and food aid for October,\nNovember, and December, which is expected to reach approximately 997,000\ntonnes, will result in a higher use of the CBP compared to previous\nyears,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
Rizal emphasised that his side is ready to execute these assignments,\nsupported by strong rice stocks distributed across a national\nwarehousing network totalling approximately 4.6 million tonnes. \u201cWe are\nready to support government efforts to maintain the stability of rice\nsupply and prices. With stocks of around 4.6 million tonnes, we continue\nto mobilise this strength for the people,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Bulog noted that as of 16 September, the realisation of SPHP has\nreached 799,593 tonnes, or 96.57 per cent of the 828,000-tonne target.\nMeanwhile, food aid for February-March reached approximately 662,867\ntonnes, and food aid for July-September reached approximately 618,581\ntonnes. \u201cOverall, approximately 2.08 million tonnes of rice have been\ndistributed through these three assignments,\u201d said Rizal.<\/p>\n
According to Rizal, this readiness will continue to be strengthened\nahead of the end-of-year period, including the Christmas and New Year\n2026\/2027 momentum, as well as anticipation for a predicted longer and\ndrier dry season. \u201cWith strong stocks and ongoing distribution, the\npublic is expected not to worry about rice availability,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also emphasised that the government has the capacity to continue\nmobilising the CBP as needed, with SPHP being strengthened to maintain\naffordable rice supplies, while food aid serves as direct support for\nrecipient families.
