Jakarta (ANTARA) \u2013 Perum Bulog has formed a special task force to\ntighten oversight of rice distribution under the Food Supply and Price\nStabilisation (SPHP) programme and ensure that partner evaluations are\nconducted transparently, so that supplies reach the public as\nintended.<\/p>\n
\u201cBulog has a major responsibility to ensure that every government\nassignment is carried out properly and brings tangible benefits to the\npublic,\u201d Perum Bulog President Director Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani said in\nJakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
Bulog has moved swiftly to take firm and measured action in response\nto suspected misuse of SPHP rice by distribution partners in the\nMatraman area and at the Cipinang Rice Market in East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
As part of its responsibility to safeguard the integrity of\ngovernment assignments, the state-owned food company has begun\ncorrective measures, strengthened oversight and undertaken a\ncomprehensive review of SPHP rice distribution mechanisms to ensure the\nfood stabilisation programme genuinely benefits the public.<\/p>\n
The company has suspended six Bulog employees as part of its internal\nresponse and further investigations.<\/p>\n
The administrative measure is intended to ensure that the evaluation\nprocess is objective, transparent and accountable, without prejudging\nthe findings.<\/p>\n
As a strategic step to strengthen distribution controls, Bulog has\nalso established a Special Task Force to regulate the distribution of\nGovernment Rice Reserves (CBP).<\/p>\n
\u201cThe establishment of this task force reflects the company\u2019s\ncommitment to building a stricter, integrated and sustainable oversight\nsystem across all its operational areas,\u201d Rizal said.<\/p>\n
He said the task force would strengthen monitoring of distribution\nchannels, assess distributor compliance and ensure that every stage of\ngovernment rice distribution follows the rules, preventing potential\nmisuse at the earliest opportunity.<\/p>\n
Rizal stressed that any issues arising during the implementation of\ngovernment assignments must be handled professionally and treated as a\nshared concern as the company seeks to improve its governance.<\/p>\n
He said all information and findings on the ground were being treated\nseriously, objectively and in accordance with regulations.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe evaluation and corrective measures we are taking are part of our\ncommitment to strengthening integrity, discipline and the quality of\noversight in implementing the government\u2019s food programmes,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
Rizal also emphasised the importance of improving control systems and\nensuring that all Bulog personnel take responsibility for the proper\nimplementation of the SPHP programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have instructed all Bulog personnel, at head office, regional\noffices and branches, to further improve discipline, diligence and\noversight at every stage of distribution,\u201d Rizal said.<\/p>\n
He added that the task force was one of the measures intended to make\nthe programme\u2019s implementation more orderly and measurable.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur principle is to ensure that SPHP rice is distributed in\naccordance with the rules, that the stipulated prices are maintained,\nand that the public genuinely benefits,\u201d Rizal said.<\/p>\n
The strengthened oversight will also involve organising and\nevaluating the network of distribution partners, including Rumah Pangan\nKita (RPK), one of the channels through which SPHP rice reaches the\npublic.<\/p>\n
Bulog stressed that all partners must comply with distribution and\nselling-price rules and with the prohibition on misusing commodities\nsupplied as part of government programmes.<\/p>\n
Through more intensive oversight and reviews at successive levels,\nBulog aims to make SPHP rice distribution more orderly, transparent and\ntargeted, while minimising the risk of irregularities at every stage of\nthe supply chain.<\/p>\n
Bulog said the corrective measures were also intended to preserve the\neffectiveness of the SPHP programme, which plays a strategic role in\nsupporting national rice supply and price stability.<\/p>\n
The company is committed to carrying out its government assignments\neffectively, guided by prudence, accountability and the protection of\nthe public interest.<\/p>\n
