Surabaya (ANTARA) \u2014 Perum Bulog\u2019s East Java Regional Office has\nformed a special task force to strengthen oversight and prevent\nirregularities in the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP)\nprogramme. The task force will also organise and evaluate its\ndistribution partner network, including Rumah Pangan Kita (RPK)\noutlets.<\/p>\n
Langgeng Wisnu A, head of Bulog\u2019s East Java Regional Office, said in\na statement in Surabaya on Friday that the office stressed the\nimportance of all partners complying with rules on distribution and\nselling prices, and with the ban on misuse of commodities supplied as\npart of the government programme.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough more intensive oversight and phased evaluations, Bulog East\nJava aims to ensure that SPHP rice distribution is more orderly,\ntransparent and well targeted, while minimising the risk of\nirregularities at every stage of the distribution chain,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the measures to bring distribution into line and improve the\nsystem were part of efforts to safeguard the effectiveness of the SPHP\nprogramme, which plays a strategic role in supporting national rice\nsupply and price stability.<\/p>\n
\u201cBulog\u2019s East Java Regional Office is committed to carrying out its\ngovernment mandate optimally, guided by the principles of prudence,\naccountability and protection of the public interest,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said stronger oversight was important to maintaining the integrity\nof the SPHP programme and ensuring that all distribution partners\nfulfilled their responsibilities in accordance with the applicable\nrules.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis strengthened oversight demonstrates Bulog\u2019s commitment to\nmaintaining public trust and ensuring that SPHP rice distribution is\norderly, transparent and well targeted,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Previously, Perum Bulog moved swiftly to take firm and measured\naction in response to suspected misuse of rice from the Food Supply and\nPrice Stabilisation programme by individual distribution partners in the\nMatraman area and at the Cipinang Rice Wholesale Market in East\nJakarta.<\/p>\n
