Perum Bulog\u2019s East Java Regional Office has recorded a stellar\nachievement in safeguarding national food security. The office\u2019s\nabsorption of unhusked rice from farmers has officially reached 100\npercent of the target set by the company, with a total quantum of\n884,559 tonnes of rice equivalent.<\/p>\n
East Java Bulog Regional Leader Langgeng Wisnu A revealed that this\nsuccess surpasses the achievement in the same period of the previous\nyear. It is the result of thorough preparation and massive collaboration\nin the field.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe prepared for this achievement maximally from the beginning of\nthis year. Preparations included intensive coordination with relevant\nagencies, the readiness of the Bulog Grain Pick-Up Team, the budget for\npurchasing Harvested Dry Grain (GKP), strong coordination with the TNI\nand Polri, agricultural extension workers, and the readiness of partner\nmills to process farmers\u2019 GKP,\u201d he stated in Surabaya on Tuesday\n(14\/7).<\/p>\n
Furthermore, this extraordinary achievement could not have been\nrealised without the full support of the Governor of East Java, the\nRegents and Mayors, as well as the Agriculture Agency through its field\nextension workers. The highest appreciation was also conveyed to the\nAgriculture Agency\u2019s Field Agricultural Extension Officers (PPL), the\nTNI through Babinsa, the Polri through Bhabinkamtibmas in each working\narea, and the Bulog Grain Pick-Up Team who worked tirelessly to secure\nthe farmers\u2019 harvest.<\/p>\n
Langgeng explained that although the grain absorption target has been\nfully met, Bulog East Java will not stop its purchasing activities.\nBulog East Java is committed to remaining present in the community and\ncontinuing to absorb grain to ensure that price stability at the\nproducer (farmer) level is well maintained.<\/p>\n
\u201cEven though we have exceeded the target, we will continue to absorb\nfarmers\u2019 grain. This is a form of the state\u2019s commitment and presence\nthrough Bulog to prevent grain prices at the farmer level from\nplummeting and to keep them at a profitable level,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
In addition to focusing on rice commodities, Bulog East Java is also\nintensively absorbing other food commodities, namely Dry Shelled Corn\n(JPK).
