Perum Bulog is accelerating the distribution of SPHP rice and food aid to stabilise national rice prices and ensure affordability. With a managed stock of approximately 5.3 million tonnes, the state-owned enterprise aims to mitigate price pressures and support consumer purchasing power.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Perum Bulog has ensured that the distribution of
the Food Supply and Price Stabilisation (SPHP) rice programme and the
delivery of food aid are being accelerated to maintain rice price
stability and affordability for the public.

“Bulog is strengthening national food stabilisation measures through
the accelerated distribution of rice food aid and the release of SPHP
rice to various regions,” said the President Director of Perum Bulog,
Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, when confirmed in Jakarta on Saturday.

He emphasised that the government has prepared various instruments to
anticipate rice price dynamics in several regions. One of the primary
steps currently being implemented is the acceleration of food aid
distribution and the optimisation of SPHP rice supply to various
traditional markets.

As of early June 2026, Rizal added, the rice stock managed by Bulog
reached approximately 5.3 million tonnes. This quantity is more than
sufficient to meet the requirements of the food aid programme, SPHP, and
various government interventions aimed at maintaining the stability of
rice supply and prices throughout Indonesia.

He noted that as of 6 June 2026, the distribution of rice food aid
has reached almost 60 per cent, having been received by nearly 20
million food aid recipients (PBP) out of a total target of 33.2 million
PBP. Each beneficiary receives 20 kilograms of rice as an allocation for
the February-March 2026 period. The government aims to complete the
distribution of all food aid to registered and eligible families by the
end of June.

“The acceleration of food aid distribution will have a direct impact
on strengthening public purchasing power while helping to dampen rice
price pressures at the consumer level,” said Rizal.

In addition to food aid, Bulog continues to optimise the distribution
of SPHP rice, reaching 315,000 tonnes across various official
distribution channels, including traditional markets, food kiosks, the
Cheap Food Movement (GPM), and retail networks working in collaboration
with local governments.

Rizal explained that SPHP rice is a strategic government instrument
to ensure that the public can continue to access rice at affordable
prices. “Therefore, we are continuing to accelerate and expand its
distribution so that the benefits can be felt evenly,” added Rizal.

The government considers the combination of food aid distribution and
SPHP rice distribution to be an effective measure in maintaining the
balance of supply and prices in the market. With strong stock
availability and an extensive distribution network, the public does not
need to worry about the adequacy of the national rice supply.

Bulog also ensured that all government rice reserves currently under
its management are in a safe condition and ready for use at any time to
support national food stabilisation policies. “We urge the public to
remain calm because the national rice stock is in a very sufficient
condition,” he asserted.

He added that Bulog, together with the National Food Agency (Bapanas)
and all stakeholders, will continue to work to ensure that rice prices
remain stable and the food needs of the community are met.
",
