Bulldozer destroys elementary schools<\/p>\n
PURWAKARTA, West Java: Hundreds of elementary students in
\nCianting village in the West Java regency of Purwakarta have been
\nforced to hold their classes in a local resident's house since
\ntheir school building was destroyed by a bulldozer owned by a
\nsand-mining company.<\/p>\n
Dedi Etendi, a staff member of the local education office,
\nregretted the authorities' move to allow the private company to
\nbulldoze the school building for business interests.<\/p>\n
\"Both the local administration and the company have no
\nconscience and they are blind to the students' interests,\" he
\nsaid.<\/p>\n
The company was allowed to demolish the school building to
\nmine sand in the school area after agreeing to build a new school
\nbuilding in a safe area far from the village.<\/p>\n
Euis, a parent of one of the students, regretted the
\ndemolition, saying the demolition should have been conducted
