Building collapse stops classes<\/p>\n
TANGERANG: Hundreds of students of the state elementary school
\nin Pangadegan, Tangerang, Banten, have not attended classes since
\ntheir school was damaged by a strong wind two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
\"We are concerned at this as there is no party yet paying
\nattention to the condition of our school building,\" head of the
\nPangadegan Subdistrict Council (BPD) Endang Sudradjat was quoted
\nby Antara as saying on Saturday.<\/p>\n
He said that the strong wind, which was accompanied by heavy
\nrain, had damaged most of the school building, which is made of
\nwood, two weeks ago. \"Now only two rooms can be used to teach the
\nschool's 400 students,\" he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, the remaining two rooms could collapse
\nanytime as the school building was quite old. \"This could
\nendanger the students,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Endang called on Tangerang regent Agus Djunara to deal with
\nthe problem at the school so that teaching at the school could
\nreturn to normal.<\/p>\n
School principal Tasiah Maryani said that since its
\nconstruction 20 years ago, the building had not been renovated at
\nall.<\/p>",
