Is it true that the presidential palace, which is the symbol
\nof the state's sovereignty, can easily be bugged?<\/p>\n
As reported in a Jakarta-based media, the telephones in the
\nhouse of coordinating minister of political and security affairs
\nand the presidential palace have been bugged by an outside agent.
\nIf this is true, this means that our sovereignty has been
\ntrampled upon by foreign powers.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Dr. A.C. Manullang, an intelligence officer, has
\ndeclared that the bugging devices were installed by Israeli
\nintelligence agents. It is not clear whether Manullang has any
\nsolid facts to back his statement.<\/p>\n
Manullang's statement may prompt the hunting down of Israeli
\nagents while in fact, anyone can bug telephones and anyone's
\nphone can be bugged.<\/p>\n
A few years ago, there was a sensational stir about an
\nintercepted telephone conversation between former president B.J.
\nHabibie and former attorney general A.M. Ghalib. A similar
\nsensationalistic reaction has again come about in connection with
\nthe bugging of telephones by some foreign power in the
\npresidential palace and in the house of the coordinating minister
\nof political and security affairs.<\/p>\n
In this context, what is important is that the so-called
\nanalysts must have accurate knowledge and solid facts about the
\nsubject of their public statements.<\/p>\n
