        "content": "<p>A student at Budi Luhur University in Petukangan, South Jakarta,\nidentified by the initials A, has claimed she was harassed by a lecturer\nat the campus.<\/p>\n<p>The victim shared her account on her Instagram social media account.\nIn her post, A questioned the campus\u2019s action of merely deactivating the\nperpetrator from his academic position.<\/p>\n<p>She assessed that the existing evidence should be sufficient to\nclassify this as a criminal case of sexual violence (TPKS). Besides\nherself, two other students are said to have also been victims.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt has been a long time (since the harassment case) when he was\nstill a student. Now that he has graduated, he is speaking up because he\nwas afraid and traumatised back then,\u201d explained Pahala to Kompas.com on\nTuesday (7\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>According to Pahala, the form of harassment experienced by the victim\nwas mostly verbal, such as repeated marriage proposals made by the\nperpetrator with the initials Y. In addition, the victim is said to have\nalso experienced non-verbal harassment.<\/p>\n<p>The victim had previously reported the incident to the campus\nauthorities in 2023. The report was followed up with a temporary\ndismissal of Y for six months.<\/p>\n<p>However, during that evaluation period, Y was still seen to be active\nin the campus environment, making the victim feel uncomfortable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe campus said the perpetrator was dismissed for six months but\nstill received a salary and was active, like in technical meetings on\ncampus. If there is strong suspicion, it should be stopped,\u201d said\nPahala.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is, through legal representation, the victim will issue a\nsummons to the campus demanding permanent dismissal of the\nperpetrator.<\/p>\n<p>According to Pahala, the removal of the perpetrator\u2019s position as an\nacademic official should be a firm step by the campus to maintain a\nclean environment free from harassment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe process is gradual, persuasive first. Previously, the alumni\nchairman was not appreciated and was even scolded, so they are forced to\nissue a summons,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, the Rector of Budi Luhur University, Agus Setyo Budi, in a\nwritten statement on the official campus website, stated that the\nvictim\u2019s account is not yet supported by strong evidence.<\/p>\n<p>According to Agus, that conclusion is based on the results of the\ninvestigation by the Higher Education Violence Prevention and Handling\nTeam (PPKPT).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat the evidence presented and the witnesses brought forward are\nnot strong enough to indicate suspected sexual violence,\u201d explained\nAgus, quoted by Kompas.com on Tuesday.<\/p>",
