Jakarta (ANTARA) - Projo chairman Budi Arie Setiadi has asserted that\nhis statement regarding the possibility of the 2029 general election\nbeing brought forward was a personal analysis, not a political will to\nchange the election schedule.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf it is an analysis, it goes like this: there is the usual\npossibility of 2029, but why is there an analysis of it being sooner?\nThere is no need to retract it; let time prove it. I am not correcting\nmy statement, I am only saying that we can improve,\u201d Budi Arie said\nduring a press conference in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n
He explained that political analysis differs from political will or\nintent. According to him, his statement arose from observing societal\ndynamics, including the development of student movements and various\naspirations emerging in the public sphere.<\/p>\n
\u201cPolitical will, political intent, and political analysis are two\ndifferent things,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am not trying to encourage or invite anyone. I am only saying that\nif these dynamics occur, they must be managed properly. The societal\ndynamics that are occurring must be managed well,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, Indonesia has experience of political change in the\npast that should serve as a lesson in reading the current political\ndynamics.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs for whether the election is brought forward or held according to\nschedule, the latter is better. And we do agree with the foundation of\nour reform that elections are held every five years,\u201d Budi Arie\nsaid.<\/p>\n
He reminded that the experience of political change from 1997 to 1999\nshould be taken into consideration so that the current political\ndynamics are handled carefully.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I am only reminding all of us that we have had an experience,\nright? The years 1997 to 1999, so we must be vigilant, we must\nanticipate this carefully and calmly,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe main thing is democracy and the constitution. We follow the\nrules. We obey the rules,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Baramuda 08 chairman Rhesa Yoga said that his side had\ncommunicated with Budi Arie after the video of the statement went viral\nto provide clarification to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt that time I was not present. So because of the uproar over that\nviral clip, we immediately countered it to the public as well. We also\nreminded Mr Budi at that time to be careful,\u201d Rhesa said.<\/p>\n
Previously, a video recording circulated on social media showing Budi\nArie speaking beside Joko Widodo about the possibility of political\nmomentum and the election taking place sooner.<\/p>\n
