The Chair of the Indonesian House of Representatives' Budget Committee, MH Said Abdullah, has recommended that the Ministry of Finance extend the deadline for individual tax reporting via the CoreTax application to 31 May 2026, aligning it with the corporate tax deadline, due to persistent system errors leaving 3.3 million taxpayers unable to file. He emphasised that such an extension would help maximise government revenue targets exceeding 15 million filings and prevent revenue shortfalls from compliance issues. Additionally, Said urged Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa to audit and improve the CoreTax system to avoid future disruptions.

Sumenep (ANTARA) - The Chair of the House of Representatives’ Budget
Committee (Banggar) DPR RI, MH Said Abdullah, has suggested that the
Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia extend the reporting
period for individual taxes via the CoreTax application until 31 May
2026, similar to corporate taxes.

“This suggestion to extend the individual tax reporting is to ensure
that the government’s strategic policies can be maximised,” he stated in
remarks to the media in Sumenep, East Java, on Friday.

He explained that as of the extended deadline for individual tax
reporting via CoreTax, there were still around 3.3 million taxpayers who
had not filed their Annual Tax Returns (SPT), despite a one-month
extension from the original 31 March 2026.

Meanwhile, the frequent errors in the system have been a common
complaint among taxpayers.

“If the system is the one that’s faulty, it’s certainly not entirely
their fault,” Said remarked.

This extension would be an exception to the provisions in the General
Provisions and Tax Procedures Law, which sets the deadline for corporate
SPT filing on 30 April.

“If corporate taxpayers can file until 31 May 2026, I see no issue
with extending it by a day or even a week for individuals, to meet the
target of over 15 million filings to support state revenues,” Said
said.

The politician from Sumenep Regency, East Java, further explained
that if taxpayer compliance decreases due to system issues, tax revenues
will also decline.

Regarding the CoreTax reporting application that frequently
experiences disruptions, Budget Committee Chair MH Said Abdullah has
requested that Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa conduct a system
audit, identify weaknesses, and fix them to prevent similar incidents
from recurring.
",
