        "content": "<p>Buddhists at Vihara Dharmayana Kuta marked Vesak 2570 BE with a\npradaksina ritual, walking around the temple three times clockwise. The\ncelebrations began with the release of 50 collared doves and 500\nsparrows, symbolising acts of kindness and granting freedom to living\nbeings.<\/p>\n<p>Pandita Hendri Prasetya of Vihara Dharmayana Kuta said on Sunday, 31\nMay 2026: \u201cPerforming acts of kindness, freeing beings from fear. We\nsymbolise this by releasing birds we purchase, then set free.\u201d After the\nrelease, devotees performed pradaksina, carrying five-coloured candles,\nincense, sweets, and fruits to the altar. They chanted Buddhanussati,\nDhammanussati, and Sanghanussati \u2014 reflections on the Buddha, Dharma,\nand Sangha, known as Tiratana or Tri Ratna (Three Jewels).<\/p>\n<p>Attendance this year increased compared to last, with the new temple\nbuilding now part of the pradaksina route. \u201cIt\u2019s much busier than last\nyear. With the new building, the route now includes this area, and it\u2019s\nfull,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>The Vesak moment occurred at 16:44:45 WITA, followed by a group\nmeditation from 16:30 to 18:00 WITA, led by Pandita Hendri Prasetya,\nwith a Dhammadesana (religious sermon) delivered by Sihar, a Bali\nMinistry of Religious Affairs Buddhist guide.<\/p>\n<p>In Buddhist teachings, Vesak commemorates three key events: the birth\nof Prince Siddhartha Gautama, his enlightenment, and Parinibbana\n(passing away), all occurring on the full moon of Vesak month. \u201cOn\nVesak, we celebrate the birth of the Bodhisattva, who was destined to\nbecome a Buddha, his attainment of enlightenment, and his Parinibbana,\nall marked during the Vesak full moon,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The event concluded with performances by Buddhist Sunday School\nchildren, showcasing skills learned through religious activities,\nincluding paritta recitation, Dhammapada readings, and band\nperformances.<\/p>",
