Buddhist temple inaugurated<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Some 3,000 followers of a Buddhist sect known as
\nBuddha Dharma Indonesia (BDI) attended the inauguration of the
\nsect's first training and development center in the mountainous
\nresort area of Megamendung in Bogor on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
The ceremony to inaugurate the center, the Myogan-Ji temple,
\nwas led by Kotoku Obayashi, the foreign affairs emissary for the
\nJapanese branch of the Niciren Syosyu Buddhist sect. He is here
\nin the country with 12 Japanese monks.<\/p>\n
The Japanese delegation were accompanied by the leader of
\nNiciren Syosyu in Indonesia, Mrs. Keiko Senosoenoto and BDI
\nchairperson Mrs. Herwindra Aiko Senosoenoto, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The center will train Indonesian monks. Monks in the sect all
\ncurrently come from Japan, it said.<\/p>\n
All tutors at the training center will be Japanese until there
\nare enough Indonesia monks to take over their duties, the news
\nagency said.<\/p>\n
The ceremony began with prayers led by Obayashi. All present
\nrecited the sect's Nammyohorengekyo prayer in Japanese. The
\nprayer takes almost 45 minutes to recite in full.<\/p>\n
The ceremony also commemorated the seventh anniversary of the
\ndeath of Senosoenoto, the founder of BDI. (jun)<\/p>",
