PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) has decided not to revise its credit growth target for 2026, keeping it within the 8-10 per cent range despite exceeding performance in the first half of the year. The bank's strategy involves maintaining its core housing business while gradually expanding its non-housing credit portfolio.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Bank Tabungan Negara (BTN) has announced that
it will not revise its credit growth target for 2026, maintaining it
within the 8-10 per cent range.

This decision to keep the target unchanged comes despite credit
realisation reaching Rp418 trillion as of June 2026, representing an
11.2 per cent year-on-year growth, which has surpassed the annual
target.

“Therefore, we are not revising the (credit target). It remains the
same as the initial Bank Business Plan (RBB). However, the actual
realisation (of credit growth) has exceeded the plan,” said BTN
President Director Nixon LP Napitupulu during the 2026 Public Expose
Live in Jakarta on Thursday.

Nixon stated that the 11.2 per cent credit growth was supported by
the takeover of a retiree and pre-retiree credit portfolio from PT Bank
SMBC Indonesia Tbk, with a total transaction value of approximately
Rp19.93 trillion.

“We are actually reverting to the initial Work Plan and Budget (RKP)
of 8-10 per cent. Even if it exceeds that, it would likely only be 10.1
or 10.2 per cent. It will not go higher,” he said.

Nixon noted that the condition of the housing sector was also a
consideration for the company in determining its credit growth
target.

According to him, the growth of residential mortgages (KPR),
particularly for low-income communities (MBR), is still slowing down as
house construction and purchases have not yet grown optimally.

“If we look at KPR growth, especially for the low-income segment
(MBR), house construction and purchases are indeed slower. Therefore, we
do not dare to set a target that exceeds the current trends in the
housing industry,” he explained.

Consequently, the company will be more selective in distributing
credit for the remainder of the year.

Nixon added that the housing supply side also faces several
obstacles, including licensing issues in several regions.

“Furthermore, the supply side is also slow, particularly in West
Java. There are several licensing issues and so on. That is why we are
maintaining the figure (for credit) at 8 to 10 per cent,” said
Nixon.

Meanwhile, BTN Director of Treasury & International Banking,
Venda Yuniarti, further explained that credit growth up to June 2026 was
also driven by the expansion of non-housing credit.

As of June 2024, the proportion of non-housing credit reached 20.4
per cent of BTN’s total credit and financing. The company aims to
increase this non-housing credit proportion to 30 per cent of total
credit by 2030.

Venda assessed that with this strategy, BTN will continue to treat
the housing business as its core business, while gradually increasing
the contribution of the non-housing segment through consumer and
corporate credit, including retiree loans.

In the first half of 2026, BTN recorded a net profit of Rp2.4
trillion, representing a 40.8 per cent year-on-year growth. Meanwhile,
the gross non-performing loan (NPL) ratio decreased to 2.99 per
cent.
",
