The BTN Jakarta International Marathon (JAKIM) 2026, a collaboration
between the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government and state-owned PT Bank
Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN), is set to be attended by more than
45,000 runners, including 1,012 international participants from 52
countries. The high number of participants cements BTN JAKIM as one of
the largest running events in Indonesia and demonstrates Jakarta’s
increasing appeal within the global running community. BTN President
Director Nixon LP Napitupulu stated on Friday that the consistent growth
in participants motivates the company to continuously improve the
quality of the event and expand its international reach. “The response
from the people of Jakarta, the people of all Indonesia, and
international runners has been tremendous. We want more than two
thousand international runners next year. The Governor has given me a
KPI to reach 50 thousand participants next year. We will work hard,”
Nixon said. Meanwhile, DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the high
public interest in BTN JAKIM proves that the event has become one of the
most anticipated sporting events each year. “Last year I jokingly set a
target of 45 thousand, and Alhamdulillah, it sold out in a short time.
There were even people still queuing to get a slot. This shows
extraordinary enthusiasm,” Pramono said. Of the 1,012 registered
international runners, Malaysia has the highest number of participants
with 407 runners, followed by Singapore with 133 runners and South Korea
with 54 runners. The presence of runners from various countries
demonstrates Jakarta’s strengthening position on the Asian marathon map.
According to Pramono, the changing trend in international participation
is an indicator of the successful development of Jakarta as a sports
event destination. Domestically, the three provinces with the largest
number of participants are DKI Jakarta with 14,750 runners, West Java
with 12,030 runners, and Banten with 5,340 runners. The high
participation from various regions shows the widening reach of BTN JAKIM
among the national community and running groups. BTN JAKIM 2026 will
take place over two days, with the 5K and 10K categories on Saturday
(13/6) and the Half Marathon and Marathon on Sunday (14/6). Of the total
registered participants, the Half Marathon category is the most popular
with 16,400 runners, followed by the 10K with 15,000 runners, the
Marathon with 8,600 runners, and the 5K with 5,500 runners. To support
the smooth execution of BTN JAKIM 2026, the DKI Jakarta Provincial
Government has prepared traffic engineering on a number of road sections
that form part of the race route. Several main corridors such as the
Sudirman, Thamrin, and Rasuna Said areas, as well as other roads used by
participants, will be sterilised during the race. Pramono emphasised
that this measure is taken to provide a safe and comfortable running
experience for all participants. “We have decided that there will be no
Car Free Day on Saturday and Sunday because all routes will be
sterilised so that runners can enjoy their run comfortably,” Pramono
said.
",
