PT Bank Tabungan Negara (Persero) Tbk (BTN) and PT Bank SMBC\nIndonesia Tbk have finalised the transfer of a pension credit portfolio,\na move both banks say reinforces their commitment to sustainable banking\nservices aligned with customer needs. BTN officially now manages pension\nloan services and pension benefits previously handled by SMBC\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
BTN President Director Nixon L.P. Napitupulu stated that the\nportfolio transfer is part of the company\u2019s \u2018Beyond Mortgage\u2019\ntransformation strategy, aimed at expanding services to customers across\nevery life stage. \u2018BTN is now officially managing pension loans and\nbenefits previously handled by SMBC Indonesia. This does not mean BTN is\nleaving the housing business. On the contrary, we want to strengthen the\ncustomer service journey, from helping them own a home, meeting\nfinancial needs throughout their productive years, to entering\nretirement comfortably and prosperously,\u2019 Nixon explained.<\/p>\n
He noted that the portfolio acquisition will strengthen BTN\u2019s\nposition as a bank with a more comprehensive service ecosystem. The\ncompany remains focused on housing finance as its core business while\ncomplementing it with services that extend customer relationships into\nretirement. Nixon also expressed appreciation for the collaboration with\nSMBC Indonesia, which began in 2025 and culminated in this transaction,\nand assured that all post-transaction processes will be conducted\nprudently and in full compliance with regulations to ensure a smooth\ntransition.<\/p>\n
Nixon emphasised that customer rights will not change during the\ntransfer process. \u2018Our priority is ensuring customer comfort. All\ncustomer rights, including credit life insurance benefits attached to\nthe loans, remain the same and unchanged. We are ready to assist all\ncustomers during the transition period to ensure they continue receiving\nthe best service from BTN,\u2019 he said.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, SMBC Indonesia President Director Henoch Munandar said the\ntransaction reflects the bank\u2019s commitment to prioritising customer\ninterests in every strategic decision. \u2018We believe BTN has the\ncapability and strong network to provide services to pension customers,\u2019\nHenoch said, adding that the portfolio transfer allows SMBC Indonesia to\nrefocus resources and investments on developing its business in the\nemerging affluent, affluent, small and medium enterprises (SMEs), and\ncorporate segments.<\/p>\n
As part of the transparency measures, BTN will send welcome letters\nalong with guidance to all affected customers. However, pension benefit\npayments will continue to be managed by SMBC Indonesia until further\nnotice.
