        "content": "<p>The National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) has said that the\ndevelopment of artificial intelligence (AI) has changed the landscape of\ncyber attacks on the financial sector.<\/p>\n<p>BSSN Director of Cyber and Crypto Security for Finance, Trade and\nTourism Edit Prima said AI is changing the entire cyber attack cycle,\nmaking it more automated, adaptive and effective.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo with the help of AI, fraud is very easy, very personal, very\nconvincing, almost free of grammatical errors and difficult to\ndistinguish from the original version,\u201d Edit said at the Indonesian\nCyber Security Summit 2026 in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>According to Edit, the use of AI in cyber attacks is dangerous for\nthe financial sector for several reasons.<\/p>\n<p>First, AI allows attackers to target thousands of targets\nsimultaneously. AI is able to analyse data to create attacks that are\nmore targeted and relevant.<\/p>\n<p>Second, AI accelerates every stage of an attack, from reconnaissance\nto exploitation. AI can adapt and evade traditional security\nsystems.<\/p>\n<p>Third, the availability of various AI tools means sophisticated cyber\nattacks can be carried out by anyone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAI has created what we call the democratisation of technology. So\nanyone can carry out an attack, not necessarily someone with adequate\ntechnical skills. Simply with the help of tools, the services can\nalready be obtained at quite a cheap price,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n<p>Edit explained that if AI-based cyber attacks become increasingly\nfrequent, the financial sector will face various impacts, ranging from\nincreased financial losses, loss of customer trust, operational\ndisruption, to a decline in banking reputation.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, BSSN is working to strengthen cyber resilience in the\nfinancial sector through a number of strategies, one of which is\nincreasing collaboration with institutions in the financial sector, such\nas the Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia (BI).<\/p>\n<p>BSSN has also established a Cyber Incident Response Team (TTIS) and\nis encouraging every organisation to have a similar dedicated team.<\/p>\n<p>TTIS is a team tasked with carrying out early detection, rapid\nresponse and mitigation of cyber incidents. The team serves as BSSN\u2019s\nextension in the field and acts as a first responder before an incident\ndevelops further.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor more technical collaboration, we encourage every organisation in\nthe financial industry to have orderly and structured incident handling\ngovernance,\u201d said Edit.<\/p>\n<p>BSSN also urges every organisation in the financial industry to be\nrequired to have, establish and operate a TTIS, as well as register the\nteam with BSSN.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEssentially, we hope to encourage, and it is even already regulated,\nthat every organisation is required to have, establish and operate a\ncyber incident response team.
