        "content": "<p>JAKARTA - PT Bank Syariah Indonesia (Persero) Tbk or BSI has begun\nfacilitating cross-border Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS)\ntransactions in China through its BYOND by BSI mobile banking\napplication. BSI\u2019s Director of Information Technology, Muharto Hadi\nSuprapto, stated that BSI customers can now make transactions using QRIS\nin China via the BYOND by BSI app. Currently, payments using QRIS in\nChina can be made at merchants displaying the UnionPay and Alipay logos.\nThe implementation of this service follows the cross-border payment\ncooperation between Bank Indonesia (BI) and the People\u2019s Bank of China\n(PBOC) through the RI-China Cross-Border QRIS, which was officially\nlaunched on 30 April 2026. Through this cooperation, Indonesians can\nmake payment transactions using QRIS while in China. Conversely,\ntourists from China can also use a similar payment system when\ntransacting in Indonesia. With this Cross-Border QRIS, Indonesians no\nlonger need to exchange foreign currency (foreign exchange) when wanting\nto transact in cooperating countries. Muharto explained that\nstrengthening cross-country digital transaction services is part of\nBSI\u2019s strategy to expand the reach of Sharia financial services while\nsupporting the mobility of Indonesians abroad. According to him, the\ntrend of using digital services continues to increase in line with\nchanges in public preferences that increasingly prioritise practical and\nfast transactions through mobile banking applications. To date, the\nnumber of BYOND by BSI mobile banking users has reached approximately\n9.8 million users. In addition, the number of merchants using BSI\u2019s QRIS\nservices continues to grow.
