Salman Khan's bail plea rejected<\/p>\n
BOMBAY, India: Police filed formal charges of culpable
\nhomicide Monday against Indian movie star Salman Khan, accusing
\nhim of driving drunk, rashly and without a license when his car
\nswerved onto a sidewalk, killing one man and injuring three.<\/p>\n
Magistrate Shayam Sisode rejected Khan's bail plea - the
\nfourth since his arrest two weeks ago.<\/p>\n
Khan, who has played action heroes and romantic leads in 20
\nHindi-language blockbuster movies, faces up to 10 years in prison
\nif he is convicted of culpable homicide for the Sept. 27
\nincident.<\/p>\n
A District Court earlier ordered Khan to pay interim damages
\nto relatives of the dead and the injured. Judges in India have
\nthe authority to grant such relief since court cases can take
\nyears to settle.<\/p>\n
Khan's attorneys have said he was not driving the car at the
\ntime of the accident.<\/p>\n
The actor is already fighting a case in which he was charged
\nwith shooting a deer in a wildlife preserve in western India in
\n1998. He could face seven years in prison if convicted. -- AP<\/p>\n
Dion celebrates 'A New Day'<\/p>\n
LA LOUVIERE, Belgium: A New Day will be the theme and title of
\nCeline Dion's new show, set to debut March 25 at the new 4,000-
\nseat Colosseum theater at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n
\"It will be the beginning of a new adventure, of something
\nincredible,\" Dion said at rehearsals on Monday. \"I can't wait
\nuntil the curtains rise. I'm so excited.\"<\/p>\n
Producer-creator Franco Dragone said the show would include
\nsong, dance, theater and special effects -- even clowns.<\/p>\n
\"The story will be Celine,\" he said. \"Our tableau will be
\nbuilt around her.\"<\/p>\n
The show's cast of 60 dancers and performers have been
\nsecretly rehearsing since June at a makeshift studio in the
\nmining town of La Louviere, Dragone's hometown, located 50
\nkilometers (30 miles) south of Brussels.<\/p>\n
Dragone directed both of Cirque du Soleil's Las Vegas
\nproductions, O and Mystere.<\/p>\n
After taking a two-year break to have a baby, Dion, 34, is
\nplanning 200 shows a year for three years in Las Vegas.
\nDion said she is in full training to ready herself for the show.
\nAlthough she'll miss touring, the Canadian-born singer said
\nshe'll have more time with her family.<\/p>\n
