Brothel busted, customers arrested<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Central Jakarta Police detained 79 prostitutes
\nalong with 21 male customers on Thursday evening during a single
\nraid at Hotel Paripurna on Jl. Hayam Wuruk.<\/p>\n
Following the raid, the police temporarily sealed off the
\nunrated hotel, which had run a prostitution business with
\nimpunity for years at the back of the three-story building.<\/p>\n
Central Jakarta Police detectives chief Maj. Budiono Sandi
\nsaid his office had been tipped-off by residents that the three-
\nstory hotel was clandestinely offering prostitutes, operating
\nunder the guise of offering massages.<\/p>\n
"We detained them (the girls and their customers) in a bid to
\ncollect more information about this illegal business.<\/p>\n
Our main targets are the pimps, the godfather and the hotel
\nowner," Budiono said.<\/p>\n
The police, he said, have already identified four pimps and
\nthe owner of the hotel, known as NS.<\/p>\n
"We will nab them tonight."<\/p>\n
The prostitutes, mostly still in their early twenties, and the
\ncustomers were taken away from rooms, several of them see-through
\nglass rooms used to exhibit the girls.<\/p>\n
Budiono added the raid was conducted as a follow up to the
\ncity's governor instructions last week to close down nightspots
\nthat were being used as venues for prostitution, gambling or drug
