The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority has suspended all commercial and non-commercial filming permits in the Mount Bromo area. This preventative measure aims to mitigate the risk of forest fires caused by dry vegetation during the current dry season.

The Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park Authority (BB TNBTS) has
halted all permits for filming activities, both commercial and
non-commercial, within the Mount Bromo area and its surroundings. This
policy has been implemented to minimise the risk of forest and land
fires (karhutla).

The temporary suspension of filming permits is detailed in
Announcement Letter Number PG.21/T.8/BIDTEK/HMS.01.07/B/09/2026
regarding the Closure of the Mount Bromo Tourism Area and Surroundings,
issued by the BB TNBTS on 7 September 2026.

Speaking in Malang, East Java, the Head of BB TNBTS, Rudijanta Tjahja
Nugraha, stated that vegetation within the national park is currently in
a dry state due to the impact of the dry season, which increases the
vulnerability to forest fires.

“To ensure the safety of visitors, the preservation of the ecosystem,
and to prevent forest fire disasters, BB TNBTS is temporarily suspending
all permits for both commercial and non-commercial filming activities,”
said Rudi on Tuesday (8/9).

He explained that dry vegetation could trigger forest fires at any
time, often due to human negligence. This is because the execution of
such events frequently involves the use of technical equipment,
electrical supplies, and fuel.

Furthermore, the policy to halt filming permits is directed at event
organisers (EO), production houses (PH), and all event organisers of any
kind within the national park area.

Rudi noted that with the issuance of the letter, the suspension of
filming activities takes effect immediately. The authority urges all
relevant parties to adhere to the published regulations.

“Violations regarding this rule will be strictly penalised in
accordance with applicable laws and regulations,” he added.

However, BB TNBTS ensured that tourism activities in the Mount Bromo
and Ranu Regulated areas are not affected by this policy and will
continue as usual. Meanwhile, hiking on Mount Semeru remains closed due
to previous forest fires.
",
