The event was
attended by the British Ambassador to Vietnam, Iain Frew, who delivered
a speech. Earlier, on 16 June 2026, an event with the same theme took
place at the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. The British
Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Alexandra Smith, also delivered a
speech and opened the event.

Speakers discussed a range of topics, from the tradition of boarding
schools in the UK and the gap between conventional education models and
future workforce needs, to the educational philosophy, core values, and
student development approach of Ardingly College. The UK independent
school, which has been established for over 168 years, also outlined the
long-term vision for Ardingly College Vietnam (ACVN) in continuing and
developing the tradition of British boarding school excellence in
Vietnam.

In his speech, Ambassador Iain Frew stated that the UK and Vietnam
share a long-standing and growing educational partnership. He noted that
this relationship was recently reaffirmed as a key pillar in the
elevation of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two
countries during the visit of Vietnam’s General Secretary To Lam to the
UK last October. Frew described the presence of Ardingly College Vietnam
as an important and visionary step, bringing a British educational
tradition dating back to 1858 while aligning with Vietnam’s educational
priorities and aspirations. He added that Vietnam has a clear direction
in equipping its young generation with global competencies, strong
language skills, and the ability to thrive in international
environments, and that the UK is proud to support international
education partnerships that promote academic excellence, innovation, and
broader opportunities.

Meanwhile, British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Alexandra
Smith, addressed parents considering the British education system,
stating that by choosing a British education, they are not just
selecting a school or a system, but a tradition of excellence,
opportunity, and belief in their child’s potential. Ardingly College
Vietnam officially began operations in Lao Cai Province in January 2023
with a total investment of approximately £20 million. The school
currently has over 200 students and follows the OxfordAQA curriculum,
leading to IGCSE and A-Level qualifications. It offers a
British-standard boarding education for boys and girls aged 11 to 18
from various nationalities.
",
