Bring debtors in line<\/p>\n

I was drawn to offer my own suggestions after reading the
\nopinion of Hartoyo Wignyowijoto in 'Disclose the names of the 228
\nborrowing companies' in Bisnis Indonesia on Feb. 3, 1998.<\/p>\n
It is a fact that the impact on the public exerted by these
\ncompanies in debt is much worse than that brought about by the
\nliquidation of the 16 commercial banks, yet no action has been
\ntaken against them yet.<\/p>\n
Although the banks have been liquidated, the debtors seem to
\nhave remained calm. After all, it is the government which has
\nbeen doing everything to save them, and it is the public which
\nhas suffered from this crisis.<\/p>\n
I believe the government should:<\/p>\n
1. Announce the names of the 228 debtors and disclose the
\namount of their debts.<\/p>\n
2. Each of these companies must be subject to inquiry to find
\nout how they have used their loans.<\/p>\n
3. Companies not using loans for the productive sector must be
\nliquidated.<\/p>\n
4. Any foreign exchange deposited abroad must be returned and
\nused to repay the debts.<\/p>\n
