Bring church bombers to court<\/p>\n
We, the Indonesian community in New York and its vicinity, who
\nare gathered under the Concern For Humanity Forum, made up of
\nvarious churches and community organizations, hereby express our
\ndeep and strong concern regarding the recent bombings at various
\nchurches in Indonesia on Christmas Eve as services were taking
\nplace.<\/p>\n
We condemn and deplore these acts of terrorism.<\/p>\n
We strongly hope the government of Indonesia would arrest
\nthose involved in the conspiracy, and take legal actions against
\nthem immediately.<\/p>\n
The government of Indonesia should also reveal to its citizens
\nthose responsible for this evil conspiracy and provocation.<\/p>\n
We earnestly request the government of Indonesia to assure the
\nsecurity and religious freedom of all Christians and minority
\ngroups, in order that they may live without fear of being
\nterrorized.<\/p>\n
We also would like the government of Indonesia to abolish the
\nlaw that requires each citizen to declare their religious
\nconviction on important documents such as the identity card etc.
\nThis requirement has been used by a minor faction in the society
\nto threaten the safety of citizens from minority groups and of
\nChristian belief.<\/p>\n
Our hope is that this joint statement will be taken into
\nserious consideration by the honorable President and all in the
\ngovernment of the Republic of Indonesia.<\/p>\n
This joint statement was put in writing at the Concern For
\nHumanity Forum's meeting at Forrest Hills, New York on Dec. 25,
\n2000.<\/p>\n
