        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Acting Head of the Social Sciences and\nHumanities Research Organisation at the National Research and Innovation\nAgency (BRIN), Muhammad Najib Azca, stated that post-disaster recovery\nmust be conducted using a multidisciplinary approach.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPost-disaster recovery cannot be reduced to mere technical and\nadministrative issues. It is a complex social process, making\ncross-sector collaboration, multidisciplinary approaches, and diverse\nperspectives essential, whilst remaining sensitive to social, cultural,\nand local wisdom contexts,\u201d said Najib.<\/p>\n<p>He made these remarks during his opening address at the Kick-Off\nMeeting of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Post-Disaster\nRehabilitation and Reconstruction (PRR) for Sumatra, held in Jakarta on\nWednesday.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Najib explained that from a social sciences and\nhumanities perspective, disasters are viewed not merely as sudden\nnatural events, but as phenomena linked to long-standing social\nconditions. He noted that disasters can reflect social relations,\nresource governance, and the accumulation of vulnerabilities across\nsocial, economic, cultural, and political dimensions.<\/p>\n<p>In the context of the floods and landslides that hit several regions\nin Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra in 2025, Najib stated that the\nimpacts of disasters are not distributed evenly and follow pre-existing\nlines of inequality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVulnerable groups\u2014whether due to economic factors, gender, age, or\naccess to resources\u2014are often the most affected and the slowest to\nrecover,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In line with this, Najib noted that the BRIN PRR Task Force also\nbears the responsibility of connecting action research results and\ntechnological innovations with the actual needs of disaster-affected\ncommunities on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, during the same event, the Chairman of the Indonesian Red\nCross (PMI) Central, Muhammad Jusuf Kalla (JK), stated that the recovery\nfrom hydrometeorological disasters in Sumatra can be maximised only\nthrough collective efforts involving various stakeholders.<\/p>",
