Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)\nis inviting other nations to collaborate through co-development schemes,\nin an effort to strengthen technology collectively within their\nrespective countries.<\/p>\n
BRIN Head Arif Satria revealed that co-development is one of the\nsteps being implemented, alongside strengthening research and\ntechnological support for SMEs and industry, to move towards \u2018Golden\nIndonesia 2045\u2019.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough co-development, we hope to engage various countries;\ntherefore, we are inviting ambassadors from nations that possess leading\ntechnologies today. Most of these technologies can be applied in\nIndonesia through a co-development process involving BRIN and Indonesian\nresearchers to serve our various developmental needs,\u201d said the Head of\nBRIN during the Kick-Off of the Indonesia Innovation Summit & Expo\n(IISE) 2026 in Jakarta on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
Arif is optimistic that Indonesia can become a developed nation if\nco-development is promptly undertaken with advanced nations. He noted\nthat various technologies are currently mastered by developed countries,\nand vice versa.<\/p>\n
He assessed that this momentum is the right time to collaborate in\norder to build shared technological strength to be implemented in\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn this context, we have built contributions to industry and SMEs,\nallowing us to see what types of technology we will develop,\u201d he\nsaid.<\/p>\n
To support SMEs, Arif continued, all related parties must collaborate\nto ensure that the phenomenon of the disconnect between the worlds of\nresearch and industry\u2014which he referred to as \u201cthe valley of death\u201d\u2014does\nnot occur in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is what we must solve, ensuring that BRIN is able to transform\nso that these innovations can become increasingly impactful,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
Arif explained that for innovation to be impactful, there are several\nthings BRIN is constantly striving for.<\/p>\n
These include ensuring research is beneficial from the laboratory to\nreal life (from lab to life), from the research world to the industrial\nworld (from research to industry), from prototype to being marketable\n(from prototype to market), and how the utilisation of knowledge can be\ntransformed into public prosperity (from knowledge to prosperity).<\/p>\n
\u201cThis impact is BRIN\u2019s orientation today; therefore, we always\nmeasure how much the research and technology we produce can bring\nbenefits to our daily lives. How research can also be felt by mothers in\nthe kitchen, by farmers in the fields, or by astronauts and cosmonauts\non space missions. This is the spectrum I believe is very broad within\nBRIN,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
