        "content": "<p>Jakarta - Head of the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN)\nArif Satria has stressed that innovation must have a direct impact on\nthe lives of Indonesian society. \u201cBRIN exists to solve real problems in\nsociety, from disaster mitigation and food security to sustainable\nenergy transition. Our innovation must have a direct impact,\u201d he said in\na statement in Jakarta on Saturday. He emphasised that research must not\nmerely end up as piles of published papers, but must transform into\nconcrete solutions and policies based on empirical evidence. He outlined\na number of leaps that have been achieved. In the disaster mitigation\nsector, BRIN introduced innovative Earthquake Damping Technology that\ncan increase infrastructure resilience in earthquake-prone areas. In\naddition, to address the challenges of urban area management and the\nprovision of new energy, the implementation of waste-to-energy\nprocessing facilities (PSEL) continues to be accelerated. Going forward,\nBRIN is also pursuing a collaborative ecosystem concept titled \u201cRumah\nInovasi Indonesia\u201d, a strategic platform designed as a bridge to connect\nresearchers\u2019 findings with the industrial ecosystem, investors, and\nphilanthropic networks to accelerate the downstreaming of technology\nproducts. Therefore, he officially submitted a proposal for budget\nstrengthening to parliament, focused on the renewal and revitalisation\nof vital national facilities, including nuclear infrastructure for\nenergy, industrial, and health purposes. Chair of Commission X of the\nHouse of Representatives (DPR) Hetifah Sjaifudian expressed support for\nstrengthening BRIN\u2019s budget because research and innovation are\nimportant for national development. \u201cFunding allocation for research\nmust be viewed as a fundamental long-term investment, not merely an\nexpenditure burden,\u201d she said. She requested that BRIN conduct targeted\nresearch according to the urgent needs of society, particularly in the\nhealth sector. Specifically, the DPR asked BRIN to pay more attention to\nresearch on diabetes treatment, given the high number of sufferers and\ncases in Indonesia. As a form of tangible support and oversight,\nCommission X of the DPR RI plans to soon visit the field to see\ndirectly, various BRIN innovations that are already underway.<\/p>",
