        "content": "<p>Padang (ANTARA) - Bung Hatta University (UBH) Padang, in\ncollaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN),\nis conducting a ten-day research project on archaeological site\ndevelopment along the West Sumatra coast from 8 to 17 June. The research\ninvolves BRIN\u2019s Centre for Environmental Maritime Archaeology and\nSustainable Culture working with the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine\nScience at UBH. \u201cThis research supports the development and mitigation\nof archaeological sites located along the coast of Pesisir Selatan\nRegency, West Sumatra,\u201d said local research partner Dr Harfiandri\nDamanhuri in Padang on Sunday. He explained that the collaborative\nresearch aims to identify the condition of maritime heritage remains\nfollowing hydrometeorological disasters and several minor earthquakes.\nThe project is expected to produce publications as well as\nrecommendations for mitigation and protection models for these unique\nand interesting sites, which are over 50 years old. According to\nDamanhuri, the results will have a broad impact, particularly by\nproviding a scientific basis for policy-making by both central and\nregional governments. \u201cIt can also serve as a foundation for\nimplementing site protection and mitigation by parties at the nagari\n(village) level around the sites,\u201d he said. The research team is led by\nDr Ira Dillenia (Maritime Archaeology) from BRIN, with members including\nGendro Keling MA (Maritime Archaeologist) and Dr Ing Semeidi Husrin\n(Geological Marine Disaster). Local research partners include Dr\nHarfiandri Damanhuri (Marine Conservation and Ecotourism) from the\nCoastal and Marine Resources Study Programme (SP2K) at UBH\u2019s\nPostgraduate Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Science. The research is\nassisted by field team member Samsuardi (Dive Master), who is collecting\ndata at the Fort archaeological site on Cingkuak Island and the\nunderwater archaeological site of the MV Boelongan Nederland in the\nMandeh Bay area of Pesisir Selatan.<\/p>",
