Personnel from Battalion B of the Mobile Brigade (Brimob) of Polda\nMetro Jaya, together with the Pioneer Team of the East Jakarta\nMetropolitan Police, dispersed an illegal street race on Jalan Pemuda,\nRawamangun, East Jakarta, in the early hours of Tuesday (14 July). Four\nmotorcycles were seized.<\/p>\n
The crackdown took place in the early hours of Tuesday (14 July).\nOfficers initially received a report from members of the public whilst\ncarrying out intensified routine patrol duties (KRYD).<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom the location, officers secured four motorcycles suspected of\nbeing used in the illegal street race and handed them over to the\nTraffic Unit of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police for further\nexamination,\u201d said the Commander of the Brimob Unit of Polda Metro Jaya,\nPolice Grand Commissioner Henik Maryanto, in a statement on Tuesday (14\nJuly).<\/p>\n
Grand Commissioner Henik said the routine patrols conducted by his\npersonnel reflect the commitment of the National Police (Polri) to\nmaintaining security and providing a sense of safety to the public.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery report from the public will be followed up promptly. The\npresence of personnel in the field is not only to take enforcement\naction, but also to prevent potential public security and order\ndisturbances so that people can go about their activities safely and\ncomfortably,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He explained that illegal street racing not only violates traffic\nregulations but also endangers the safety of those involved and other\nroad users. For this reason, personnel of Battalion B of the Brimob Unit\nof Polda Metro Jaya, together with the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police,\ncontinue to step up patrols at a number of hotspots.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese hotspots include the Jatinegara and Duren Sawit areas, in\norder to anticipate the three categories of criminal acts (3C), brawls,\nonline gambling and online fraud. Throughout the patrols, the situation\nin the jurisdiction of the East Jakarta Metropolitan Police has been\nobserved to be safe and conducive,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n
Henik said these joint patrol activities form part of ongoing efforts\nto create a conducive public security and order situation, whilst also\nstrengthening synergy between the Brimob Unit of Polda Metro Jaya and\nthe East Jakarta Metropolitan Police in providing the best service to\nthe public through both preventive and responsive measures.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe public is urged not to become involved in illegal street racing\nor any other activities that could disturb public order.
