        "content": "<p>BRICS nations have expressed deep concern over unilateral\nrestrictions imposed on trade and financial transactions, including\ntariff increases, according to a joint statement released on Friday by\nBRICS finance ministers and central bank governors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe remain very concerned about the unilateral implementation of\nvarious policies related to trade and finance, including tariff\nincreases and non-tariff measures that distort trade and are\ninconsistent with World Trade Organization (WTO) rules,\u201d the statement\nread.<\/p>\n<p>The ministers noted that the heaviest pressure is being felt by\nemerging markets and developing economies, following their meeting in\nMumbai, India, on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The BRICS finance ministers and central bank governors reaffirmed\ntheir support for an open, transparent, inclusive, non-discriminable,\nand rules-based multilateral trading system, with the WTO serving as its\nprimary foundation.<\/p>\n<p>The Indonesian delegation, led by President Prabowo Subianto,\nofficially participated in the BRICS Summit series in Rio de Janeiro,\nBrazil.<\/p>\n<p>US President Donald Trump has stated that he will impose 100% tariffs\non BRICS member nations if they create a new currency.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, Indonesia officially joined BRICS, following Iran, Egypt,\nEthiopia, and the United Arab Emirates, which were accepted in early\n2024.<\/p>\n<p>The Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN), Luhut\nPandjaitan, also commented on Indonesia\u2019s full membership in BRICS,\nnoting that the benefits of joining the bloc (comprising Brazil, Russia,\nIndia, China, and South Africa) are not yet clearly visible or\npromising.<\/p>",
