PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has deployed its 'Teras Kapal BRI' floating banking service to improve financial access for remote coastal and island populations. The initiative aims to enhance customer experience and financial inclusion through direct maritime-based banking services.

PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, known as BRI, has introduced
‘Teras Kapal BRI’, a floating banking service solution designed to reach
communities on small islands and coastal areas with limited access to
traditional banking services.

BRI Director of Operations, Hakim Putratting, stated that this
strategic move aligns with the CX100 programme initiated by Danantara
Indonesia, an initiative focused on transforming customer experience by
emphasising service quality and ease of access.

‘Through Teras Kapal BRI, the company demonstrates that customer
experience is not only realised through service digitalisation, but also
through the ability to provide banking access that is easy, safe,
accessible, and remains relevant to the needs of people across various
regions of Indonesia,’ Hakim said in a statement on Saturday, 6 June
2026.

On Thursday, 4 June 2026, Hakim visited the Teras Kapal Bahtera Seva
II in South Halmahera, North Maluku. The visit was conducted alongside
the Chief Marketing Officer of Danantara Indonesia, Dendi T. Danianto;
Vice President of Danantara Indonesia, Danang Widiasurya; and an Expert
Committee member of Danantara and Professor at the Faculty of Economics
and Business, Universitas Airlangga, Fitri Ismiyanti.

During the visit, BRI also distributed assistance through the BRI
Peduli TJSL programme, providing production tools to the Putri Bajo
MSMEs to help increase production capacity and strengthen business
activities.

In addition to Bahtera Seva II in South Halmahera, BRI also operates
the Teras Kapal BRI Bahtera Seva I in the Thousand Islands, which covers
six islands. There is also Bahtera Seva III in the Anambas Islands
covering six islands, and Nera Seva in Labuan Bajo, which reaches ten
islands.

Hakim noted that for a decade, Teras Kapal BRI has been part of BRI’s
journey in bringing banking services closer to island communities.
Through these floating terraces, BRI continues to strengthen direct
interaction with the public while driving improvements in financial
literacy and inclusion in coastal regions.

‘Since its launch in 2015, BRI has been a pioneer in banking services
reaching island communities via maritime transport,’ said Hakim. ‘This
service provides ease of access for transactions and financial
consultations that were previously difficult for people in coastal and
island regions to reach.’
",
