Street sexual harassment continues to terrorise the Sewon area in\nBantul. Within one week this August, two women have been recorded as\nvictims of this form of street violence. Most recently, a woman was\ntargeted while out for a run.<\/p>\n
Instances of breast harassment have occurred twice within a week in\nAugust 2026 in the Sewon, Bantul region. Both victims were women out for\nmorning jogs. To date, the perpetrators remain unidentified.<\/p>\n
The latest incident involved a woman jogging in Sewon, Bantul, on\nFriday (28\/8). The incident was shared on the Instagram account @merapi_uncover<\/span>. The\nvictim, who was jogging in front of the Sewon Wastewater Treatment Plant\n(IPAL), was subjected to harassment on Friday (28\/8).<\/p>\n \u201cThe story is that every morning I go for a run with my husband on a\nroute near our house; the route we take always changes but stays around\nthe house area. This morning, as usual, we planned to run from our house\ntowards Pendowo field, passing the Sewon wastewater treatment plant. The\nroad is quite deserted, and I, who usually walk alongside my husband,\nbegan to run a bit faster, leaving my husband behind. While running\nalone, I became a victim of breast harassment,\u201d wrote the @merapi_uncover<\/span>\nInstagram account, as seen on detikJogja, Saturday (29\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n \u201cMy breasts were suddenly grabbed by an unknown person,\u201d the account\ncontinued.<\/p>\n The Chief of Sewon Police, AKP Sutrisno, stated that Sewon Police\nofficers have visited the scene of the incident.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is true (there is breast harassment in Sewon); officers have\nalready been to the location,\u201d he said when contacted by detikJogja,\nSaturday (29\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n Sutrisno added that the police have also taken statements from the\nvictim, as she went directly to the Sewon Police Station following the\nincident.<\/p>\n Currently, the police are conducting an investigation to solve the\ncase, which includes interviewing witnesses near the scene.<\/p>\n These incidents have recurred within a week of each other. A similar\nact was shared by the same account via CCTV footage, showing a woman\nbeing harassed while jogging in Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul, which went\nviral on social media. Police confirmed they have inspected the crime\nscene and advised the victim to report to the Sewon Police Station.<\/p>\n \u201cGood morning admin, I want to inform you of a breast harassment\nincident experienced by a lady jogging around my house. The area is\nbehind Clandys Niten (Pendowoharjo, Sewon, Bantul). The incident\noccurred at 05:15. I am attaching video evidence in case she wishes to\nreport to the nearest police station,\u201d wrote the @merapi_uncover<\/span> Instagram account, as\nseen on detikJogja, Thursday (20\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n The Head of Public Relations for Bantul Police, Iptu Rita Hidayanto,\nconfirmed the incident. However, as of now, the victim has not filed an\nofficial report with either the Sewon or Bantul Police.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is true (there is breast harassment in Sewon), but the victim has\nnot made a report so far,\u201d said Rita.<\/p>\n Despite the lack of a formal report, Rita mentioned that the police\nhave visited the location to verify the occurrence of the\nharassment.<\/p>\n \u201cHowever, Sewon Police officers have visited the crime scene to\nconduct an inspection,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n Regarding the ongoing terror of breast harassment, police have not\nyet been able to confirm whether the perpetrators are the same\nindividual. As of today, the suspects have not been apprehended.<\/p>\n Sewon Police Chief, AKP Sutrisno, stated that the police are working\nto uncover the perpetrators behind the two incidents in Sewon.<\/p>\n \u201cInvestigators cannot yet confirm if there are similarities between\nthe perpetrators,\u201d he said when contacted by detikJogja, Monday\n(31\/8\/2026).<\/p>\n Police are continuing their investigation into both cases, including\ntaking statements from victims and witnesses at the locations.<\/p>",
