ATHENS \u2013 The humanitarian voyage of the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF)\nto break the Gaza blockade has been disrupted by Zionist Israel. On\nWednesday night (29\/4\/2026), 11 of the 56 GSF ships sailing in\ninternational waters of the Mediterranean Sea near Greece lost contact\nafter being approached by the Zionist Israeli military fleet.<\/p>\n
\u201cJust now, less than half an hour ago, I, as one of the Steering\nCommittee members of the Global Sumud Flotilla, received clear\ninformation to share with the public that our flotilla, currently\nconsisting of 56 ships, was approached by one ship that identified\nitself as from Israel,\u201d said Maimon Herawati, a member of the Global\nSumud Flotilla Steering Committee, in the early hours of Thursday.<\/p>\n
She stated that some ships reported being approached by one vessel\nclaiming to be from the Israeli occupying forces. They then pointed\nsemi-automatic weapons at the participants in the fleet heading to Gaza\nand forced them to kneel.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo we haven\u2019t confirmed if it\u2019s Israel or not, but self-identified\nor they said they were from Israel and then instructed our friends to\nturn back,\u201d said Maimon.<\/p>\n
After the incident, 11 ships then lost contact and could not be\nreached. Maimon suspects this is because the radio signals were jammed\nby the intercepting party of those ships.<\/p>\n
\u201cSo they blocked the frequency, resulting in 11 ships that we cannot\ndetect their current condition. But so far, we hope, because there\u2019s no\ncertainty yet.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHopefully this is not yet an interception or hijacking. The\nconditions of our friends in other locations are calm, composed, not\npanicked. And in accordance with previous training, this is a\nnon-violence movement, a non-violent action,\u201d said Maimon. She also\ndetailed that around 110 participants were on those 11 ships.<\/p>\n
According to Maimon, surveillance of the fleet had already begun to\nbe indicated when the ships were still docked in Barcelona, Spain. \u201cWhen\nI was on night watch, there were already drones visible,\u201d she said.
