Brawling students cause a traffic congestion<\/p>\n
Around 200 students of the Christian University of Indonesia
\n(UKI) and YAI Persada Indonesia University renewed fighting on
\nFriday, following a similar incident on Tuesday, which resulted
\nin 36 injured.<\/p>\n
The fresh brawl caused a traffic jam in front of the YAI
\ncampus on Jl. Diponegoro, Central Jakarta, and surrounding side-
\nstreets. The students hurled rocks, bottles, sticks, molotov
\ncocktails and firecrackers at each other from 30 meters away.<\/p>\n
Friday's incident, sparked by unknown reasons, started at
\nabout 2 p.m. and lasted only half an hour after 16 motorcycle
\npolice arrived and dispersed them.<\/p>\n
The students scattered to their respective universities, which
\nare about 200 meters from each other.<\/p>\n
Dozens of public order officials cleared the streets of rocks
\nand other debris after the incident.<\/p>\n
Students of the rival universities are often involved in
\nbrawls. Tuesday's brawl lasted an hour, prompting the police to
\nclose the street and reroute traffic.<\/p>\n
Last October, students from the two universities were also
\ninvolved in a brawl that injured 15. UKI students held a press
\nbriefing after the brawl, promising that they and other students
\nfrom the universities in the area would put an end to the
\nviolence.<\/p>\n
Only two days after the pledge was made, however, another
\nbrawl broke out and 10 students were injured. Two cars parked
