        "content": "<p>Brawlers 'scalped' in Indramayu<\/p>\n<p>INDRAMAYU, West Java: Local police shaved the heads of dozens<br>\nof locals who were involved in the recent communal brawls that<br>\ntook place in Jatibarang subdistrict, Indramayu, West Java, on<br>\nSunday.<\/p>\n<p>A police officer said that the brawlers had their heads shaved<br>\nto teach them a lesson for ignoring the police's earlier warning<br>\nto stop the brawling that frequently occurred in the area.<\/p>\n<p>\"During a number of meetings with locals in Indramayu,<br>\nparticularly in Jatibarang, they were warned several times not to<br>\nget involved in anymore communal brawls. However, they ignored<br>\nthe warnings. This convinced us of the need to deal with them<br>\nseriously,\" Indramayu Police chief Adj. Sen. Commr. Setyo Wasisto<br>\nsaid on Monday as quoted by Antara.<\/p>\n<p>The locals who had their heads shaved were arrested during a<br>\npolice search operation in Jatibarang shortly after the communal<br>\nbrawl ended on Sunday night after having continued since Saturday<br>\nevening.<\/p>\n<p>During the search, police confiscated various weapons such as<br>\nmachetes, swords, bows and arrows, catapults and Molotov<br>\ncocktails. Setyo said the brawlers could be charged under<br>\nEmergency Law No. 12\/1951 for possessing illegal weapons as well<br>\nas articles of the Criminal Code for public order offenses.<\/p>\n<p>Setyo explained that brawls frequently occurred in the area<br>\nand that they had claimed a number of lives. --Antara<\/p>",
