        "content": "<p>The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Republic of Indonesia has\ndeployed a total of over 251,000 field officers nationwide, with 4,082\nof them assigned to data collection for the Economic Census (SE) in the\nSpecial Region of Yogyakarta (DIY), commencing from 15 June until 31\nAugust 2026. \u201cDIY is very special because its human development index\nachievement is the second highest in Indonesia,\u201d said Deputy Head of BPS\nRI Sonny Harry Budiutomo Harmadi during the Launch of the 2026 Economic\nCensus Implementation in Yogyakarta on Thursday. According to him,\nYogyakarta is renowned as an Education City, where education plays an\nextraordinary role in national development, both in the context of human\ndevelopment and economic development. He added that education is\nincluded as an economic activity; therefore, through the 2026 Economic\nCensus, the extent of education\u2019s contribution to DIY\u2019s economy can be\ndetermined. \u201cThe system will be such that census officers will not only\nvisit registered business actors but also go house-to-house to record\nall existing economic activities. So it is very possible that the census\nofficers will encounter new businesses,\u201d he said. Vice Governor of DIY\nKGPAA Paku Alam X stated that the 2026 Economic Census provides\ntrustworthy basic data regarding economic structures, business\ncharacteristics, as well as the development of the digital economy and\nenvironmental economy. \u201cThis basic data will become the foundation for\nformulating national and regional economic development policies. And as\na region that relies on services, education, tourism, the creative\neconomy, culture, and MSMEs, we need a complete portrait of the dynamics\nof the business world,\u201d he said. He emphasised that every piece of data\nsubmitted will become a footing for development policies that determine\nthe future of the region\u2019s economy and the welfare of its people.\n\u201cWelcome BPS officers by providing correct, complete, and truthful\ninformation. This data will later become the basis for formulating MSME\ndevelopment policies, strengthening investment, enhancing regional\ncompetitiveness, and expanding employment opportunities,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
