        "content": "<p>Jakarta (ANTARA) - The National Agency of Drug and Food Control\n(BPOM) is intensifying cyber patrols to suppress the circulation of\nillegal medicine and food products in the digital space, amid the\nproliferation of sales through online platforms. \u201cCyber patrols will\ncontinue depending on evolving conditions,\u201d said BPOM Head Taruna Ikrar\nduring a hearing with Commission IX of the House of Representatives (DPR\nRI) at the parliamentary complex in Jakarta on Monday. It is known that\ncyber patrols involve active monitoring, surveillance, and enforcement\nactivities conducted by BPOM in the digital realm. According to Taruna,\noversight in cyberspace is one of BPOM\u2019s primary strategies in\naddressing the increasingly massive distribution of illegal products.\n\u201cThe number of cyber patrols we conduct targets 197,562 takedowns by\n2025, which have already been followed up by the Ministry of\nCommunication and Digital Affairs,\u201d he stated. Furthermore, Taruna\nconveyed that from 2026 to the first quarter\u2014wait, in the first quarter\nof this year, BPOM has taken down 61,564 contents related to illegal\nproducts, exceeding 25 percent of the previous year\u2019s achievement. \u201cThis\nyear, we have already realised 61,564 in the first quarter, thus\nsurpassing 25 percent of last year. Of course, cyber patrols will\ncontinue depending on evolving conditions,\u201d he said. Currently, Taruna\nstated that digital oversight is crucial because the circulation of\nillegal products heavily utilises online channels that are difficult to\nreach through conventional monitoring. Therefore, BPOM continues to\nstrengthen cross-sector coordination to accelerate enforcement against\nviolating content while enhancing public protection from products that\ndo not meet safety, efficacy, and quality standards. \u201cWe are also\noptimising the use of digital technology to detect and prevent the\ncirculation of illegal products,\u201d he added.
