Jakarta (ANTARA) - A member of the Ethics Code Honour Council (MKKE)\nof the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), Budi Prijono, stated that\nintegrity is the primary foundation for maintaining the honour and trust\nin the BPK.<\/p>\n
\u201cIntegrity is self-respect, and integrity is not an option, but a\nbasic necessity. Without integrity, all the achievements and successes\nwe attain will lose their meaning and honour. Public trust in the BPK\ndepends heavily on the ethical behaviour of every individual within it,\u201d\nhe stated in an official statement in Jakarta on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The BPK MKKE holds a strategic role in safeguarding the dignity,\nhonour, image, and credibility of the BPK through the enforcement of the\ncode of ethics.<\/p>\n
The MKKE was established based on Law Number 15 of 2006 concerning\nthe BPK, and its implementation is further regulated by BPK Regulation\nNumber 5 of 2018 regarding the BPK Ethics Code Honour Council. The\nexistence of the BPK MKKE is considered a vital part of ensuring that\nBPK Members and Auditors consistently perform their duties based on the\nBPK\u2019s core values: Independence, Integrity, and Professionalism.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the BPK MKKE consists of five members, comprising two\nBPK Members, two from academia, and one from a professional\nbackground.<\/p>\n
The current composition of the BPK MKKE includes Nyoman Adhi\nSuryadnyana as Chairperson and Member, Budi Prijono as a Member\nrepresenting the BPK Members, Agus Surono as a Member from the\nprofessional element, and Bambang Pamungkas and Lindawati Gani as\nMembers from academia. This composition is deemed to reflect the\ninvolvement of internal BPK elements as well as perspectives from\nprofessional and academic sectors to support the objective and\nhigh-integrity execution of the MKKE BPK\u2019s functions.<\/p>\n
In performing its duties, the BPK MKKE plays a role in investigating\nalleged violations of the code of ethics and promoting prevention\nefforts through the strengthening of integrity. One such method is\nconducted through socialisation and education regarding the code of\nethics for BPK personnel.<\/p>\n
These activities aim to increase understanding and the\ninternalisation of BPK\u2019s core values, raise awareness regarding the\nimpact of ethical violations, and build a collective commitment to\nupholding the code of ethics during audit duties.<\/p>\n
\u201cEfforts to strengthen integrity are continuously carried out within\nthe BPK environment, including through Integrity Strengthening\nSocialisation conducted at BPK Representative Offices. These activities\nserve as a space for education, commitment refreshment, dialogue, and\nthe discussion of case studies related to the challenges of enforcing\nthe code of $ethics,\u201d said Budi.<\/p>\n
Through this preventative approach, he continued, the BPK MKKE\nencourages the growth of awareness among every BPK individual to\nunderstand the causes of integrity violations while strengthening the\nethical culture in the performance of duties.<\/p>\n
The BPK MKKE is also supported by a complaint mechanism through a\nwhistleblowing system (WBS), which can be accessed via wbs.bpk.go.id,\nserving as a channel for the public to report alleged violations of the\ncode of ethics within the BPK environment.<\/p>\n
