The KPK also named MAW, a private-sector
figure from PT MWC, as a suspect in the case.

Hamenang is suspected of receiving bribes in four alleged corruption
schemes and offering a bribe in another. Ahmad Luthfi is suspected of
receiving a bribe in one alleged scheme, while MAW is suspected of
paying a bribe in one strand of the case.

During the operation, the KPK seized about Rp1.2 billion in cash, as
well as a blue barrel that Hamenang is suspected of having used to hold
or store proceeds of corruption.

The KPK has identified five alleged corruption schemes: procurement
of goods and services, licensing, collection fees, payments from
regional government agencies or work units, and payments to BPK
officials to influence an audit.

Teguh said BPK was co-operating and ready to provide law enforcement
authorities with any necessary data and information in accordance with
applicable laws and regulations.

“KPK law enforcement is part of our shared synergy and commitment to
eradicating corruption in Indonesia,” he said.

Internally, BPK would take firm action and would not protect any
employee found to have committed a violation, Teguh added. Staff
allegedly involved will face proceedings before BPK’s Ethics Code
Council as well as civil-service disciplinary proceedings, with
sanctions imposed in accordance with the rules.

“BPK consistently upholds a zero-tolerance principle towards all
forms of integrity violations and is committed to continuing to
evaluate, tighten oversight and strengthen integrity management,” he
said.

BPK provides public reporting channels for information about
suspected breaches of its code of ethics, fraud or corruption by its
employees.
