        "content": "<p>Semarang - The Workers\u2019 Social Security Organising Agency (BPJS\nKetenagakerjaan) has handed over compensation to the heirs of six\nstudents from Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Walisongo Semarang who died\nafter being swept away in a river during their community service\nprogramme (KKN). The handover of the Work Accident Insurance (JKK)\ncompensation was conducted symbolically, represented by the heirs of two\nstudents, at the UIN Walisongo Rectorate in Semarang on Wednesday. The\nsix students were Riska Amelia from Pemalang Regency, Nabila Yulian\nDessi Pramesti from Bojonegoro Regency, Syifa Nadilah from Pemalang,\nMuhammad Jibril Asyarafi from Jepara Regency, Bima Pranawira from Gresik\nRegency, and Muhammad Labib Rizqi from Pekalongan City. The six\nstudents, who were participating in the KKN programme, died after being\ncaught in the current of the Jolinggo River in Getas Village, Kendal\nRegency, on Tuesday (4\/11\/2025). The heirs of the six students each\nreceived JKK compensation of Rp70 million. The Head of the BPJS\nKetenagakerjaan Semarang Pemuda Branch, Mohamad Irfan, stated that UIN\nWalisongo Semarang is one of the campuses that has provided protection\nto students in student activities. \u201cSince around 2022, all students\nconducting KKN activities and beyond have been given protection under\nthe employment social security programme,\u201d he said. \u201cBecause death and\ncalamity can happen unexpectedly. But at least, when it happens to us,\nthere is a safety net,\u201d he added. The Rector of UIN Walisongo Semarang,\nProf Musahadi, reaffirmed the campus\u2019s commitment to protecting its\nacademic community, including students, in carrying out programmes.\n\u201cEspecially for programmes with risks, we carry out mitigation and\nstrive to establish cooperation, one of which is with BPJS\nKetenagakerjaan,\u201d he said. The number of students at UIN Walisongo\nSemarang currently stands at 22,000, and the protection is provided not\nonly during KKN but also during internships and field experience\npractices (PPL). \u201cWe indeed see this as a beneficial measure, and we\nwant our students to be truly protected,\u201d he said.
