"summary": "Following the recent enactment of the Domestic Workers Protection Act (UU PPRT) by Indonesia's House of Representatives, BPJS Kesehatan has ramped up educational efforts on the National Health Insurance (JKN) programme specifically targeting domestic workers. The new law, approved after nearly 22 years of deliberation as a tribute to Kartini Day, mandates health and employment social security protections under Articles 15 and 16, with premiums either covered by the government for eligible recipients or by employers through work agreements. This initiative aims to foster awareness among employers and workers to ensure optimal protection and equity for this vulnerable group.",

The steps to be taken include providing understanding,\nparticularly to employers, on the importance of national health\ninsurance protection. Given that the law was passed on Tuesday (21\/4),\nthe agency will study the regulations in depth to provide optimal\nprotection for domestic workers. The approval of the bill into law\nserves as a gift for Kartini Day commemorations after discussions\nlasting nearly 22 years. Health and employment social security are among\nthe 12 key provisions in the law that provide justice for domestic\nworkers. Provisions related to JKN are regulated in Articles 15 and 16\nof the UU PPRT. Article 16 states that health social security is\nprovided to domestic workers (PRT) as recipients of premium assistance\n(PBI) covered by the central and regional governments. However, if the\nPRT is not included in PBI, the health social security premiums are\nborne by the employer based on agreements or work contracts, known to\nthe neighbourhood head (RT\/RW). Meanwhile, employment social security\npremiums are borne by the employer according to agreements or work\ncontracts.<\/p>",
