The Indonesian Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) continues to\nstrengthen the quality of halal certification services. One such effort\nhas been undertaken through enhancing the competency of halal auditors\nvia the Halal Auditor Quality Improvement programme held in Depok, West\nJava, on Monday 9 March 2026.<\/p>\n
The activity was attended by 80 halal auditors from 38 Halal\nInspection Institutions (LPH) from various regions across Java.<\/p>\n
The programme is intended to ensure that halal verification processes\nare conducted professionally, accurately, and in accordance with\napplicable laws and regulations.<\/p>\n
BPJPH Head Ahmad Haikal Hasan, who opened the activity remotely,\nemphasised that the role of halal auditors has become increasingly\nstrategic as the global halal economy develops. \u201cHalal is no longer\nviewed merely as an issue of compliance with Sharia principles, but has\nevolved into a global quality standard, a symbol of consumer trust, and\na competitive resource in the global economy,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
According to him, halal auditors have a responsibility to conduct\ninspections carefully, objectively, and in accordance with standards\nestablished in the implementation of the Halal Product Assurance (JPH)\nscheme.<\/p>\n
Haikal also stressed that the competency of halal auditors must be\ncontinuously strengthened, both in terms of understanding regulations,\ntechnical capability in tracing materials and production processes, and\nintegrity in conducting inspections.<\/p>\n
With this enhanced competency, halal audit processes are expected to\nrun more accurately, transparently, and accountably, thereby maintaining\npublic trust whilst supporting the strengthening of the national halal\necosystem.<\/p>\n
This effort is also an important component in preparing for the\nimplementation of mandatory halal certification in October 2026.<\/p>\n
Deputy Head for Halal Product Assurance Supervision and Guidance EA\nChuzaemi Abidin explained that the activity aimed to improve the\ncompetency, professionalism, and integrity of halal auditors in\nconducting halal product verification.<\/p>\n
With strong competency, each stage of the verification process is\nexpected to proceed according to standards, thereby ensuring the halal\nstatus of products circulating in society.<\/p>\n
The activity covered various technical aspects of halal product\nverification, including updates to Halal Product Assurance regulations,\nprocedures for inspecting materials and halal production processes, and\nidentification of critical halal points in the production process.<\/p>\n
Participants were also equipped with understanding of halal and haram\nconcepts in establishing product halal status and implementation of the\nHalal Product Assurance System (SJPH).<\/p>\n
On a separate occasion, BPJPH Secretary-General Muhammad Aqil Irham\nemphasised the importance of expanding the presence of Halal Inspection\nInstitutions so that halal certification services can be more easily\nimplemented by businesses.<\/p>\n
\u201cI still remember when there were only three LPHs. Now the number has\ngrown to 42 Main LPHs and 80 Primary LPHs. Going forward, LPHs need to\nbe distributed more evenly so that the service ratio is proportional to\nthe number of businesses,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
