West Muna, Southeast Sulawesi \u2014 The Downstream Oil and Gas Regulatory\nAgency (BPH Migas) has ensured that the demand for subsidised fuel in\nWest Muna, Southeast Sulawesi, will be prioritised through the\nstrengthening of energy distribution to support local community\nactivities and the regional economy.<\/p>\n
The Head of BPH Migunas, Wahyudi Anas, stated that West Muna is an\narea requiring government support to meet fuel needs through synergy\nwith the Directorate General of Oil and Gas and Pertamina.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn our future evaluation, alongside the Regent of West Muna (La Ode\nDarwin) and the Director General of Oil and Gas (Ministry of Energy and\nMineral Resources, Laode Sulaeman), we will examine the geography of\nWest Muna to identify where strengthening, increased distribution, or\nnew petrol stations are needed to improve accessibility for the\ncommunity,\u201d said Wahyudi in West Muna on Saturday.<\/p>\n
BPH Migas, together with the Directorate General of Oil and Gas of\nthe Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Pertamina Patra Niaga, and\nthe West Muna Regency Government, held a meeting to discuss the demand\nfor subsidised fuel in the area.<\/p>\n
According to Wahyudi, global geopolitical dynamics and energy price\ndisparities make the presence of state-compensated subsidised fuel\nincreasingly vital to maintaining economic activities, including in West\nMuna.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will later detail exactly which areas and which communities are\nnot yet being served by the state-compensated subsidised fuel,\u201d he\nadded.<\/p>\n
The actual fuel requirements in West Muna include Pertalite, diesel\nfor fishermen, water transport, water pumps, land transport, and\nkerosene, which is still required by some residents.<\/p>\n
Consequently, he requested Pertamina Patra Niaga to accelerate the\nrealisation of this year\u2019s fuel allocation and ensure that West Muna\nreceives special attention if distribution adjustments are required\ntowards the end of the year.<\/p>\n
BPH Migas is also exploring the possibility of adding more\ndistribution points through coordination with Pertamina Patra Niaga to\nreduce fuel queues in the region.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, BPH Migas has invited the local government and regional\nleadership (Forkopimda) to strengthen distribution oversight to ensure\nthat subsidised fuel reaches the entitled members of the community in\naccordance with regulations.<\/p>\n
Wahyudi explained that fuel subsidies and compensation represent\nsignificant government support, and therefore their use must be\nprotected through shared supervision, evaluation, and more orderly\ndistribution.<\/p>\n
Distribution evaluations will be carried out gradually with the\nsupport of Pertamina Patra Niaga as the distributor to ensure continuous\nimprovements in energy services to the public.<\/p>\n
BPH Migas is also preparing a special distribution concept for the\nisland areas of West Muna to prevent the illegal sale of subsidised fuel\nand to ensure that prices and volumes remain affordable.<\/p>\n
\u201cI am very grateful to the Director General of Oil and Gas, the Head\nof BPH Migas, and Pertamina for responding quickly to the grievances of\nthe West Muna community. This is a truly progressive step,\u201d said the\nRegent.<\/p>\n
He noted that the collaboration between BPH Migas, the Directorate\nGeneral of Oil and Gas, Pertamina Patra Niaga, and the West Muna Regency\nGovernment is capable of delivering a more equitable, targeted, and\nsustainable subsidised fuel distribution system.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is our hope for the people of West Muna that we will conduct\nmapping regarding needs and whether additional petrol stations are\nrequired; we will discuss this further,\u201d added Darwin.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will hold meetings to decide what needs to be added and whether\nthe current quota is sufficient or needs increasing; we will follow up\non this within the next one to two weeks,\u201d Darwin added.<\/p>\n
During the meeting, the local government reported to BPH Migas, the\nMinistry of Energy and Mineral Resources, and Pertamina Patra Niaga\nregarding the discrepancy between fuel demand and supply in the\nregion.<\/p>\n
The local government stated that the demand for Pertalite reaches\napproximately 14 million litres per year, yet the supply received is\nonly over 2 million litres. A similar situation exists for subsidised\ndiesel, with a demand of around 17 million litres per year against a\nsupply of just over 2 million litres.
