Boy killed in TNI-GAM clash<\/p>\n

A seven-year-old boy was shot dead on Wednesday in North Aceh
\nregency, as a car in which he was traveling was allegedly
\nambushed by a group of Aceh rebels. Ten others were also injured
\nduring the incident, including three soldiers.<\/p>\n
The victims were evacuated to Cut Meutia Hospital in
\nLhokseumawe, the capital of North Aceh regency, while two of the
\nsoldiers were rushed to the Medan military hospital in North
\nSumatra for intensive medical treatment.<\/p>\n
The incident began when Rahmadana, the seven-year-old boy, was
\non board a public transportation vehicle along with other 12
\npassengers, five of them soldiers.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was heading from Kuta Makmur district to
\nLhokseumawe in the morning when a group of Free Aceh Movement
\n(GAM) rebels opened fire in Simpang Jambe subdistrict, North Aceh
\nregency, some 25 kilometers from Lhokseumawe, an eyewitness said.<\/p>\n
Although soldiers are not permitted to use public
\ntransportation vehicles for their own safety in war torn Aceh, in
\nreality, soldiers often use such vehicles.<\/p>\n
\"Suddenly, there were a volley of gunshots. Passengers fled in
\npanic,\" said Sarfah, the eye witness.<\/p>\n
Rahmadana was killed instantly. The group of men, believed to
\nbe members of GAM, quickly fled the area.<\/p>\n
Separately, GAM spokesman Tengku Jamaika acknowledged that his
\nmen had ambushed the vehicle. He blamed the Indonesian military
\nfor using civilians as cover during military operations.<\/p>",
