Boxer Herman in cell for alleged police attack<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Professional boxer Herman Kili Kili is still in
\npolice custody for his alleged role in an attack on a police
\nsergeant last Friday, an officer said on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
"We're still working on the case, and (seeking) Herman's two
\nother friends," Kelapa Gading Police subprecinct chief Maj. Agus
\nSulistyono told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
Herman and his two friends -- Johnson Hutagaol and Roby --
\nreportedly assaulted First Sgt. Ijab, a member of Kelapa Gading's
\npolice vehicle patrol at Mal Kelapa Gading shopping center on
\nFriday night.<\/p>\n
Police said the incident started when the three men approached
\nofficer Ijab, who was standing in front of the mall.<\/p>\n
Johnson and Roby allegedly asked Ijab to handcuff Herman's
\nhands.<\/p>\n
The officer asked Johnson and Roby to reveal the reason behind
\nthe request.<\/p>\n
While pointing his finger at his two friends, Herman allegedly
\ntold the officer: "I've just hit somebody."<\/p>\n
As sergeant Ijab was set to question Johnson and Roby, Herman
\nallegedly punched the officer in the left jaw.<\/p>\n
The unanticipated upper cut from the national athlete
\nallegedly knocked down the sergeant. Police claimed that Herman,
\nhowever, continued punching the officer's back and face.<\/p>\n
The three alleged assailants then hailed a mikrolet.<\/p>\n
However, the driver was a witness to the incident and alerted
\nother mikrolet drivers that his passengers had just attacked an
\nofficer.<\/p>\n
The drivers dragged Herman and his two friends from the
\nvehicle. Herman was mobbed, while his friends managed to flee.<\/p>\n
Both Herman and officer Ijab were taken to nearby Mediros
\nHospital. There were unconfirmed reports that Herman was under
\nthe influence of drugs at the time of the incident.<\/p>\n
"We are still waiting for the test results from the hospital,"
\nAgus said.<\/p>\n
If found guilty of the assault, Herman could face charges of
\nviolating Article 213 of the Criminal Code on the assault of on-
\nduty officials, which carries a maximum penalty of eight years
